Dutch Oven Bread

People? Fresh bread. While camping. No, your eyes do not deceive you. With a little prep work, you can bake this at your campsite and amaze your friends and family.

INGREDIENTS

    • 3 cups of unbleached all-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp yeast
    • 1 tsp salt
    • Add up to 1-1//2 cups of warm water

DIRECTIONS

:The day before you leave, whisk together unbleached all-purpose flour, yeast, and salt. Add up to 1-1//2 cups of warm water and stir until a loose, sticky, shaggy mixture forms. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set it aside for 12-18 hours (up to 24). Overnight works great. When you’re ready to bake your bread, heat your GSI Outdoors Dutch Oven up for about 15 minutes with 10 coals under and 20 coals on top. Flour up your hands while the Oven is heating, and shape the risen dough into a round loaf. Carefully set the dough in the oven and cover it back up (keep the coals on the lid), and check your bread after 15 minutes for a good crust and color. We cooked ours for about 30 minutes total, and it turned out incredible.

No need to oil the Oven, either. Don’t forget butter and/or honey, and ENJOY YOUR FRESH-BAKED BREAD WHILE CAMPING!
