I first bought this cup years ago for backpacking due to its lightweight stat. I took this cup and used it each day out in the woods, on trail and even at home. It holds up quite well and never spilled with the lid locked. I've strapped this cup on the outside of my pack and it always stayed in place. After a few years with the first version, a more foam type outer shell, the seams tore and it started to loosen the hold between the inside cup and outside shell. I bought the version sold now and it appears tighter on the cup, more durable and rugged. So far so good, but this is the first year I have the newest version.
Recommended for backpacking, day hiking or anywhere you can strap it on with a clip.

Love, love love the size, handle and thermal'ness' of these mugs. We bought two and have used them on 3 canoe trips this year. Sadly, the seam along the fabric outer on one of them is fraying in three places and I assume will continue to do so.

This cup is awesome for all my backpacking adventures...LOVE IT!!
The only thing is, I would recommend going in store to buy this. The online shipping cost, even at its lowest could have you another cup.
Find a store, buy the cup...stay offline when purchasing.
I was going to order another cup in addition to the one I have just in case I lost it, but they wanted over $10.00 in shipping at lowest price.
Go In store to buy...sweet cup!!

I always have an insulated cup of some sort along when backpacking. This might be the lightest of all. I'll be camping in Yosemite this February so I'll get a good feel for how well it insulates. I've used it at home and have noticed the warmth coming from the cup/insulation (which will feel nice on a freezing morning) but my concern is it will lose its heat faster because of this. But that's only speculation at this point.
I did place one and two cup markers on the plastic container for measuring reference. It would be nice if these markers came with the cup (just a suggestion).
