This is a dynamite mug. This is just as leakproof as those Contigo mugs from Canadian tire. I tipped it over and shook it and not a drop fell out. I also really like the loop. It's very useful when five fingers need to be used for five distinct things.

The top does feel like that cheap plastic from my Honda Civic though, something I'm not totally fond of when paying a hefty price for a mug. I also hope the colour on the stainless steel remains for a long while.

I have tried other travel presses like the plastic version of this and the Bodum, and this is by far the best one I've had.

After having this mug/press for approximately 4 months now i can say it is durable and makes the best coffee i have ever had. The inside tube eliminates the possibility of coffee grinds in your drink and it is extremely well insulated. I have been making coffee with this mug every day now for the entire time i owned it except for 2 weeks when i thought i had lost it (sad times).
this mug does not leak and you should not be afraid to give it a shake to stir in your favorite flavoring.
I only have 2 very minor complaints.
1. The sliding portion of the lid is not easily disassembled for cleaning.
2. So far they have not made a 50oz press with the same insert tube (big hint/take my money)

I've been using this handy french press & travel mug over the summer, bike touring, and anywhere I feel like going. It is fantastic, no, really it is. The whole unit is very sturdy and durable; if it can last with me, well... I like the filter because it allows all the wonderful oils to rise to the top. The seals are excellent and replaceable. The top is secure and holds in the hot liquids. GSI did their homework on this one, and it shows. As you might tell, I'm a definite fan-boy.

Keeps my coffee hotter than expected, for longer than expected! I frequently [read daily] forget how long I've been steeping/brewing my coffee for, and with nothing more than the lid to keep things warmer, sleeve exposed, my coffee is STILL almost too hot to drink after an hour plus! When I fully tighten down the lid, and the sleeve is secured, this mug will keep my coffee HOT for hours! Wife wants one now because her Commuter Java Press doesn't even compare for heat retention [but still makes the same amazing coffee!]
